We live in a little lost land
In houses surrounded by trees
At every turn there's a helping hand
A jolly ol' band of merry monkies
We get everything we want, well, some of us do
All the rest of us have is to want it to
Other than that life's pretty bland
A life of peace lets other problems brew
It's a decent life
But nothing feels right
Like you don't belong
And when all the songs
Sing of alienation
And the degradation
Of our mental states
Maybe it's too late
We lived in this place so long
A piece of green surrounded by sea
A place where nothing can go wrong
Even if I think it'd better for me
So is it any wonder why I get the feeling that any conversation I share with someone else is an unwanted task of the other party done purely out of courtesy?
So I'm writing songs
Just to get along
With my fellow man
At least that's the plan
'Cause who needs artistic enlightenment
When no one's gonna find entertainment
In what I make?
(play a solo, will ya?)
We live in a dirty shithole
At least it feels that way sometimes
Forced to worship anybody who's old
At least if you wish to earn a dime
But these same fucks can't work computers
Or think beyond what daddy told
Or maybe they're hardened depressives
The selves that we're waiting for
They know it well
They live in Hell
At our age
They wanted change
We're all the same
Just a bunch of merry monkeys on a little lost land in houses surrounded by trees
WE'RE JUST WAITING FOR OUR GLIMMERS OF HOPE TO FADE AWAY :-(
